Description
Fazendas Klem is a real family business. The current owner and son of the founder is Nagipe Viana Klem. He grew up with the company. In the 50's he took the first steps towards an organic and sustainable plantation. Nowadays he is supported by his family members and the farm has grown rapidly and is an example for sustainable production in the region. Regularly other farmers visit the farm to gain knowledge.
The focus of the Klem family is on producing the highest quality coffee. So high that they have already won the Cup of excellence in Brazil. This coffee is processed according to a "Honey process". This means that the coffee is harvested, then with a de-pulper stripped of the skin of the coffee fruit, the coffee is dried on raised beds so that part of the pulp ferments and leaves a special taste in the coffee bean. Fun fact, the name "honey process" comes from how the pulp that remains feels.
