Ethiopia - Bombe - Natural
A fruit BOM from the Bombe washing station! This coffee is produced in Sidama, Ethiopia and is processed as natural. And that is what you taste! This coffee is deliciously full with flavours of milk chocolate, caramel, lychee and melon. If you have just brewed it, it smells like those fruitella sweets, and note the stratification as the coffee cools! Delicious as a filter, but also good for a fruity espresso.
Description
The producers of this coffee live in the beautiful region of the Bombe mountain valley. This is also where the wax station gets its name from. The producers are part of an organisation of 667 farmers who are responsible for this coffee. The export company Daye Bensa receives the berries and selects only the ripe ones at Bombe Abore Washing Station. The berries are dried for between 14 and 18 days on African raised beds. After which they undergo a final selection.
What is striking in this lot is that the screen sizes differ a lot and are a lot smaller compared to other countries. This is because the beans have a high density due to the fact that the coffee plants grow at an altitude of between 1920 and 2020 metres. This results in a slow ripening process, which leads to the deliciously layered and fruity flavours.
