Description
Los Osos "the bears" is entirely dedicated to the Spectacled Bear (Tremarctos ornatus) a protected animal, classified as " vulnerable" by IUCN because of habitat loss. This coffee is intended to help local organizations make coffee farmers aware that certain agricultural practices can also endanger other native species, such as the spectacled bear, as well as jaguars or birds.
This lot is a celebration of the work done to protect biodiversity in Parque Nacional Nevado del Huila. Santa maria was cut off from the rest of the world and the coffee market for many years due to the conflict. The area covers part of the mountain range in northern Huila, it was a strategic corridor during the constant fighting between guerrillas and government forces. An eventful history, but it has taken a turn for the worse.
The Coffee Quest Colombia has been working with Santa Maria Station in Huila for many years, developing projects with local partners La Victoria, Fusamdes and Parques Nacionales Naturales de Colombia to contribute to the restoration of biodiversity, clean water, reforestation and sustainable agricultural practices, especially in the " buffer" area around the National Park.
This coffee is a classic Colombian profile from Huila, but of high quality. The flavors we would describe as Chocolate, red fruit and light taste of orange zest.
